Cartoons- Elena Stamatakos

For this exchange, students from Stanford and the American University in Cairo posted and commented on each other’s analyses of political cartoons and advertisements.

I knew that for an Egyptian student to find an american cartoon funny, it would have to deal with something they would actually know about, so obscure references to american society, politics etc… wouldn’t work. The relationship between Egypt and Israel comes up in the news now and then so I thought this might be relevant enough.
This cartoon deals a bit more with U.S. History and the current political climate/current opinion of Obama, so I thought that this was an example of a cartoon that caters a bit more to Stanford students.
