Bin Laden… Where are you??

Amira Zaki-Ingy El Morally-Mayada H. Mostafa

As we all know, Osama Bin Laden was the founder of al-Qaeda. Lately, the news announced Bin Laden’s death. US killed Bin Laden after spending trillions of dollars. The thing that mostly matters is throwing his dead body in the sea; this is so unacceptable nor appropriate. Even if he was the most dangerous terrorist alive, what kind of human rights say that terrorists’ dead bodies should be thrown in the sea.

Bin laden represented something to the Western world. He represented terrorism. Because of him, people connected the Islam religion to terrorism. Glad that this symbol is dead. According to many Egyptians, Osama Bin Laden’s death was a celebration. A lot of Egyptians are merely concerned with the boost in the stock market prices. However, some young Egyptians regard the death of Osama Bin Laden as a neutral tragic event. The sudden news of his death had no effect on some other Egyptian individuals as well. The Egyptians are now focusing on what is yet to come, after the early disturbance of the January 25 revolution. Many of us already thought that Osama Bin Laden was dead years ago, but the Americans suddenly exposed his death to give president Obama a boost for the re-election campaign, or they had either found his corpse as a comforting proof to them.

The situation seems confusing; everyone can’t stop wondering if President Obama had planned to announce Bin laden’s death at this time, so that he could get more votes at the next election, and so that his popularity among people would rise.

What’s the proof that Osama Bin Laden is dead? Why did not America release any pictures of the operation, although they said they are going to so?
Is Bin Laden still alive? or Did he die long time ago? A lot of questions are raised when we talk about Bin Laden’s latest news, but those questions have no answers nor proofs.

Finally, we would like everyone to know that we as Egyptians and as Muslims were never and will never be supporting the idea of innocent people getting killed. All of us are glad that a terrorist is gone, thus regarding how US respects human rights by throwing anyone’s dead body in the sea, even if he/she is a terrorist.
